After about 11 years of flashing custom firmwares to devices, I finally bricked a device, my super cheap, super sexy Samsung Galaxy Y. Ironically, I didn’t brick it through flashing a custom firmware.
So I need Gtalk on my phone, I downloaded Talk.apk, proceed with install and all went fine. However I need to log on to a different google account than the one I’m currently using, so logically I added the account on my phone, however talk always log on to the default account used to connect to the market. So I decided to remove my account, Alas it wouldn’t let me, as it will break some dependency.
So I decided to make my “other account” the default account for my android device. But still talk resiliently logged on to the default account even after unchecking sign on automatically, so I decided maybe just maybe I need a reboot, so I did just that.
Lo and behold I made it to the splash screen, after 5 minutes I’m still in the splash screen, I know that something is wrong, 10 minutes…15 minutes…30 minutes…1 hour… At this point I know its bricked… 2 hours… 3 hours… I know its bricked! now do some digging.
So here are the steps I made in unbricking my Samsung Galaxy Y phone, This is for my personal use and will serve as a guide and a reminder on how to proceed should I brick my phone again in the future. I have no guarantee that this very same procedure will work with your phone, and I’m not responsible if you render your device unusable. Follow the steps I made at your own risk.

Stock Rom is the firmware that comes with the device when you bought it.
Odin is a great tool for samsung devices which features the android OS, its a tool to flash custom/stock roms to your phone, it’s very helpful in your quest to unbrick your samsung android devices as well, not all samsung devices are supported by odin.
If you Odin can’t detect your device, you need to install drivers, you might want to install Kies
